With Halloween just days away, Vision Films has released a new movie called The Hybrids Family (rated PG), just in time for Halloween! Written by Tony Schweikle, Directed by Tony Randel, and produced by Tony Schweikle & Peter Wooley.

Movie Synopsis

This is a multi-generational comedy that tells a coming of age story by taking a look into the lives of two teenage siblings. Blaz (Mojean Aria, The Bronx Bull) & Velana (Leanne Agmon, Blue Bloods) were born from two different hybrids—vampires and witches. Blaz and Velana are actually the worlds first vampire/witch combo hybrids. Yes, they're half witch, half vampire, and ALL teenager! Since birth the siblings were hidden away from the rest of the world in their family's castle, by their witch mother (Anne Leighton, Grimm) and vampire father (Philip Willingham, Cargo). They have lived without any friends and are restricted to bedtimes and sleeping in coffins.

Soon enough, a supernatural adventurous journey brews (no pun intended lol) when the teenage siblings decide it's time to leave the nest in attempts to create and finally live "normal" lives. They end up choosing Palm Tree City Florida and quickly move there via teleportation!

Once in Florida, the teens are on a mission to pursue their career dreams. Blaz wants to be a film maker and ends up meeting a college film maker which he ends up collaborating with her on her film. Velana dreams of being a singer, but has to settle working at a bar in the meantime.

Their parents are not happy with their children's decisions at all, to say the least and are extremely determined to make their children's careers and dream of living normal lives magically disappear.

Blaze and Velana's parents are the least of their worries because they also have a conniving warlock (Charles Noland, Blow) and his accomplice following right at their heels.

The only way out of this poisonous disaster for Blaz and Velana is if their paternal grandfather The Count (Paul Sorvino, Goodfellows—one of my all time favorite movies might I add!) and maternal grandmother the witch (Carolyn Hennesy, General Hospital) put their major differences aside.

Their grandfather The Count is pretty upset when he's woken up from his three-month nap and taken away from his comfy coffin that includes a memory foam pillow to rescue his teenage grandchildren. He quickly learns that every possible unnatural attempt has been made, which leaves him with no other choice to turn to other than the internet.

The Walking Mombie's Review

I was offered this fantastic opportunity to screen & review The Hybrids Family movies before it was actually available and I was super excited to accept! My whole family watch this hilarious movie together and there were laughs and giggles coming from all around the our living room! Now this movie isn't only about comedy, it is definitely sending positive messages to viewers as well. It shows how love conquers all, the value and importance of family connections, and provides a cross-cultural understanding as with the vampires and witches, that many of in real life still need a better understanding of.

I really enjoyed the fact that Paul Sorvino based his character on Bela Lugosi’s performance in 1931’s “Dracula.” Who doesn't love a great classic?

My family and I were really happy to welcome a new Halloween movie into our home. We love celebrating Halloween with fun, family-friendly festive activities and this movie fit right in! This is a wonderful appropriate film to watch with the whole family.

The Hybrids Family movies has earned the Dove Foundation Family Seal of Approval and 2015 20th Annual Family Film Festival HYBRIDS AWARDED "BEST FEATURE FILM COMEDY." We have also given The Walking Mombie's Seal of Approval as well! We loved it and we (my whole family) highly recommend it to your family this Halloween!
