Three-year-old's are amazing and at times, confusing little human beings aren't they? They're kind of in that in between stage, where they're no longer a toddler, but not old enough to be independent for the most part. As a result, you may be stumped because you're not quite sure what to get your three-year-old for the holidays this year. Since I have a three-year-old to shop for this holiday season myself, I decided to put together an amazing gift guide to help you find the perfect gift for that special little three-year-old in you life!

While creating this holiday gift guide, I didn't want to just throw out the latest, greatest, trendiest, or priciest gifts. Each gift on our list has been carefully thought out with your three-year-old's physical, mental and emotional capabilities. After all, you want to make sure that the gift you choose not only provides excitement and joy—it would be really nice if it helped your child grow, explore, develop, and learn.

Let's face it, if you're a three-year-old—you're world is dominated by a very vivid imagination and fantasy. No longer toddlers and with each passing day they become more independent and more responsive to others around them. Being able to now control their movements, they're able to play and enjoy organized games and sports. While they're still very active , for the most part they're more interested in structured games and being able to now, play those games for longer periods of time.

Spacial awareness also becomes more fine-tuned at the age of three. They're now able to understand the connection between objects (similar/difference). You may have started noticing your child organizing their collection of stuffed animals or action figures by lining them up or even noticed that they are undressing and redressing dolls. Having more precise control allows these little guys to stack blocks (9 or more at a time) or pour water form one cup to the other using both hands.

At three, a child is in the process of developing their muscle control and concentration in order to master the precision needed for proper finger and hand movements. The next time your child's coloring or drawing, take a notice to how they're holding their crayon or marker. What you'll come to find is that they can move each one of their fingers independently as well as together at the same time.

This particular skill becomes extremely handy to your little one because they're no longer grasping crayons and markers with a fist, but rather, now they're holding their crayons and markers with a their thumb on one side and an their other fingers on the other side (just like adults).

A three-year-old's curiosity really peaks when it comes to art and crafts. They've developed a fascination with paper, clay, Play-Doh, paint, chalk, crayons, markers, etc. They love being able to experiment and manipulate these materials to see what "this" does and how "that" looks. They often even create something entirely new with these materials.

The Code-a-pillar is one of our favorite toys we've come across this year. With Code-a-pillar your child can connect the segments into different combinations to send the Code-a-pillar in different directions. We really love this toy because it encourages children to problem solve by planning, sequencing, and critical thinking. It also encourages kids to think independently. Since the segments can be placed in and endless number of combinations, this isn't a toy that your child will tire of quickly. Each time they pick up this toy, they can make it work in a different way.

With this adorable set kids can plant seeds for imaginative play! Specially designed for little hands, these easy-to-grip, durable, and washable pieces feature a real-life look and feel. Soft plastic parts make them especially safe for toddlers. Great for encouraging children to spend endless hours in thoughtful play, expressing their creativity and building language skills as they grow their imaginations!

Move the number slider to explore numbers, time and temperature. Nourish math learning: cut food into 2, 3 or 4 equal pieces. Place the skillet on the stove to fry an egg – and hear real sizzling sounds! This is the perfect toy for number learning fun!

With this Play-Doh set your child can pretend to be a dentist. They can shape a mouthful of teeth, squeeze toothpaste through the toothbrush and pretend to keep the teeth squeaky clean.
